Dead skin on my red-eared slider Video Clip

I promised on my previous video I would tell you why my red-eared slider on the dock kept kicking. Well, this video is a close-up. She has been shedding a lot, and had a huge chunk of dead skin she was trying to take off. It was probably itchy, too. Poor thing! But now, I can safely say the dead skin is gone! Hehe. Oh, and I think I saw my other turtle eat it afterwards… ew.

The term for hibernation in reptiles is brumation.

Oh Snap

Finger food. Yuuummy.

P.S. This is not my turtle. My turtle wouldn’t hurt me. (:

Red-eared Sliders are omnivores and eat a variety of animal and plant materials in the wild including, but not limited to fish, crayfish, carrion, tadpoles, snails, and will eat other turtles, aquatic insects and numerous aquatic plant species.
