Barbaro Art – It was Beautiful – Laura J. Smith

I started this drawing as a challenge to myself to push my skills to better detail and texture. A learning experience for me. When I scanned the finished portrait and saw it on the screen I started to cry. He looked so alive! Here you can watch the WIP as it develops.

The song is from my very favorite singer Amy Grant and is what I listened to most while drawing each portrait of him. It conveys how I feel about our Champion. The other two portraits show when I am dedicating those specific words to either Dr Richardson or The Jacksons. I miss you Bobby!

EDIT: 1/28/08: I raise $3619.00 selling prints, greeting cards, and Christmas ornaments from this image. I donated it to the Fund to Fight Laminitis at New Bolton Center. I went there myself and met Dr Richardson. Check out my blog to read about my trip and see photos!!
