Videos Saving the Komodo Dragon

WONG:
It was a special day at the Surabaya Zoo in Indonesia today. It was the second time that zookeepers have succeeded in hatching the eggs of the rare Komodo Dragon outside its natural habitat. Let’s take a look.

STORY:
Zookeepers at the Surabaya Zoo in Indonesia’s East Java keep a close eye on the latest batch of eggs in the zoo’s incubator room. The eggs belong to the world’s largest living lizard – the Komodo Dragon.

The dragons are native to Indonesia and with only 5,000 left in the world, the species is endangered.

It’s the second time that zookeepers have succeeded in hatching the eggs outside of their natural habitat.

[Nur Ali Faisol, Surabaya Zoo]:
“We collected all the eggs in September 2007 from the Komodo cages, and now fourteen eggs have already hatched while one has failed to hatch.”

Don’t let the size of these babies fool you – once fully grown they can weigh up to 100kg (220 pounds) and measure more than three meters (10ft) in length. Adult Komodo Dragons prey on animals such as pig and deer. They have even been known to eat adult water buffalo.

As the species continues to be threatened, the efforts of the zookeepers at Surabaya Zoo are not wasted in ensuring the survival of the species.

Because of its large size and habit of sleeping in these burrows, it is able to conserve body heat throughout the night and minimize its basking period the morning after.

Garter Snake Eats Fish minos!!!! VIDEO

One hungry snake, one small bowl, 15 minos -dinner!

Despite the decline in their population from collection as pets especially in the more northerly regions in which large groups are collected at hibernation, pollution of aquatic areas, and introduction of bullfrogs and bass as predators, this is still a very commonly found snake.

Argentine tegu. this is his spare cage when the other one is being cleaned. other one is a 40foot tank. anyone who has owned a large tegu has i idea of the crap output with a tegu this size. this tegu lives and eats better than i do. so keep your cheap comments to yourself.

Feeding in a separate area outside the enclosure is another way to accomplish both of these aims.

Melanistic Male Red Ear Slider vs 5 Feeder fish Videos

A video filmed by me featuring a Melanistic Male Red Ear Slider that i rescued from the wild, he was in really bad condition then.

Now after 6 months, his condition has improved but his shell is still to small for the size of its body, and the shell is also too flat, suggesting a lack of protein.

I fed it 5 Feeder Fish and he managed to kill them in short time, the last one however survived abit longer, when i turned off my video camera, it was eaten the next second.

Regarding the tank size, not to worry, this is just the feeder tank, the actual tank it lives in is extremely big.

The reason for the feeder tank is that i don’t want the water of its actual tank to be dirty.

Enjoy it! Ratings and comments are greatly welcomed.
