Bronstein was bitten on his bare foot, as the keeper had told him to take off his white shoes, which could have potentially excited the Komodo dragon.

While this species is gentle, tractable, and attractive, its sheer size and power make it an unsuitable choice for beginning snake keepers, who are all too often lured into buying one by unscrupulous pet shop owners and their relatively low market value.

A Three-toed Box Turtle that was discovered in my back yard.
The Three-toed Box Turtle is a species not native to Illinois.
Red Ear Sliders hunting American Bull Frog
Last year, I was walking back home when i walked past a pond near my house, i saw an american bull frog, upon further inspection, i Last year, I was walking back home when i walked past a pond near my house, i saw an american bull frog, upon further inspection, i noticed that there were several red ear sliders beside it, biting it.
I immediately took out my Cell phone to capture this “historical scene” on video, it seems that the American bull frog’s leg have been badly injured by the sliders.
I could have easily saved the frog by removing it, but i had to decide between my head and my heart. If i used my heart and saved the frog, the Turtles might starve. At least, i decided to use my head and left the frog there, i will elaborate the reasons for my decison below.
I didn’t manage to capture the whole hunt because it was getting extremely late already, the next day when i went back to the pond, the frog was nowhere to be found, i presume it must have been killed and eaten by the sliders already.
Red Ear sliders are considered alien species here, infact they have competed with our native turtles for space and food since the day they were first traded here to be sold as pets a long time ago. This particular pond was filled with Malayan Box Turtle and Black Marsh turtle when i was much younger, but as you guys can see from the video, there is no sightings of these 2 species, only red ear sliders could be seen. Infact, i haven’t seen any native turtles in this pond for the last 2 years, this clearly shows how much effect an alien species can affect a healthy ecosystem negatively.
The population for native turtles like Malayan Box Turtle and Black Marsh Turtles(black mud turtle or smiling turtle) have been decreasing since the arrival of the Alien Red Ear Sliders, infact these 2 native turtle species are now listed in the ICUN as Vunlerable.
Here are some main points to take note of.
1) I live in Singapore, a place where neither red ear sliders or american bull frog should exist in the wild. All these animals found in the pond must be released by their owners, and this video somehow shows the effects of alien species introduction.
2)As i mentioned these frogs and turtles aren’t native species, when the owner of the frog chose to release them, have they thought that their beloved pet would be killed in such brutal way? Its partly the owner’s fault for such event to occur.
3)I capture this video using my cell phone, so the quality isn’t extremly good, so please bear with it. However, all the important parts can be clearly seen, for example how the Frog struggles, the the turtles biting etc.
Please don’t release species that are alien to an environment into the wild, this will seriously upset the balance of the ecosystem and affect it negatively.
