I came across this rather agressive gopher or ‘bull’ snake whilst searching for rattlers in the hills of contra costa county, California. Certainly the most agressive snake I’ve had on film so far, he was blowing a gale!
The epithet sayi is in honor of the renowned zoologist Thomas Say.
